Julia Robhurts
Julia Roberts (who, truthfully I have never felt an affinity towards) made her Broadway debut the oher night, and rumour has it that she wasn't that good. But now I'm torn. Part of me wants to think "HA! Maybe now people will stop treating her like the goddess she's NOT!" but another part of me thinks "Come on. Movie acting vs. stage acting is not a fair comparision. Give her a break/Don't have expectations of a Julia Roberts movie."
Your thoughts? It's like I said, I dont like her, but I feel for the gal. Just keep that mouth away from me.

I just read something that said "Drama snobs snub Roberts" which (to me) is the equivelent of saying "Well, everyone in their right mind should simply LOOOOOVE Julia Roberts and everything she's ever done! People who don't like her are elitist snobs who have their heads too far up their asses to know any better. I feel sorry for the people who can't love Julia for who she is: The Perfect Actor."
perhaps a slight exaggeration, but still. Come on.

I like her. I love her freaky mouth.
I also think it's to be expected that she'd be a bit wooden on Broadway, her first time out; not really the same kind of acting, I'd imagine. Besides, she owns the camera in close-ups: how does that translate to the stage?
Everytime I try to type this it turns into a huge rant, so here's my best attempt at condensing this:
Yes it's a totally different medium, and some actors that do well on film wouldn't necissarily translate well on stage. I don't think that it's AS true the other way around. There I said it. I'm a drama snob.
I also don't think Julia Roberts is particularly great. She's not BAD, and I haven't seen everything that she's done, but of what I have seen her most challenging role wasn't Erin Brockavich, it was Anna in Closer, and I think she missed the mark. She wasn't bad, she just didn't particularly impress me.
If anyone wants to contend this I can actually back myself up, I just didn't want to post a ten page comment.
