Dark Clouds, Silver Linings

I've been finding the silver linings lately in a few dark clouds. For example; Dark cloud: Nora chewed up a pen a while ago on a pair of pants. Silver lining: It was a black pair of pants, and the ink doesn't show up. Dark Cloud: Work was terrible tonight. Silver lining: With time and effort I can choose to have a sense of humour about it all.

I suppose the biggest dark cloud lately was that my grandfather died on Thursday the 20th. It was not unexpected nor was it sudden, but not prolonged so as my sis says, "It's sad, but it's not a tragedy." He was 91 years old, the father of five, grandfather of fourteen, great grandfather of twenty, great-great grandfather to one, a patriarch if nothing else. The silver lining? Rediscovering family. It's kind of cool that a person you vaguely recognize can come to you for comfort, even though you can't remember each other's names.

Well, may as well present some photo equations:

I'm sorry to hear about your grandfather, Andrew. My own grandfather is 99 and not doing so well these past few days, but, as we try to keep in mind, 90-some years, 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren suggests he's done well for himself.

Aside:
Some fine equations you've got there!
