Sam Beam on a cell phone seems incongruous.

Oh MAN! With Iron & Wine's The Shepherd's Dog coming out in naught but 11 days, I just had a swell idea of how to promote it! My parents just bought this cabinet (pictured above) to house their computer stuff, and around the same time I was telling my dad about Iron & Wine, and had downloaded an mp3 of "Woman King" to give him a sample of Sam's musical abilities. But then I wasn't thinking about it, so I closed up the cabinet while the music was still playing. Creepy cool in a "Jumanji" kind of way. And so was birthed this idea.

Picture this, if you will:

A man (possibly me, possibly Luke Norton because if I gave him this job he would be forever in my pocket) awakens and glances at his calendar, which reads "September 25th." This is the HOMEOWNER. He yawns, stretches, and heads down to his kitchen when he hears a strange musical sound.

He proceeds with caution towards the kitchen where he realizes that the music is coming from inside a cabinet in the corner. He tentitively approaches the cabinet and as he is about to open the door, there is a cough from inside. He jumps back as the cabinet door opens and a hand emerges!

Sam Beam, guitar in hand, steps out of the cabinet.

SAM: [to camera] Oh hi there. I'm Sam Beam of Iron & Wine. I was just playing one of the songs from my new album, "The Shepherd's Dog" which is due out on SubPop Records September 25th. I sure hope you'll all like it. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to get back to practicing. [to HOMEOWNER] Say, do you know how to play a banjo?

[HOMEOWNER, mouth agape at the bearded man who has just emerged from his curio slowly shakes his head no.]

SAM: Dang, that's too bad. Could you get me a tissue? It's kind of dusty in here.

[SAM retreats into the cabinet, closing it behind him. TITLE: The Shepherd's Dog by Iron & Wine, In Stores September 25th!]

[HOMEOWNER knocks on the door of the cabinet with a box of tissues in hand.]
